Best Sound Design for Games & Interactive Media

Best Audio Implementation for Games & Interactive Media

Best Music Scoring for Games & Interactive Media

  • Short overview of the audio systems made for the game and how are they unique

  • A Build of the project for the jury to play

  • They will be asked to play a minimum of 10 minutes, so, make sure they can play the best part.

  • Video Recording of gameplay. Minimum 5 minutes, Maximum 10 minutes. The video must be at least medium visual quality and high-quality audio (unless it was made to be lo-fi)

  • Screenshots/screen-recordings of what makes the game unique and more innovative - That can be from the actual game engine/ middleware project, as well as any other documentation that shows the uniqueness of the project.

  • As for any music in the project, you must own or have permission from the copyright owner to play such music tracks on livestream and allow YouTube to play it on the Award Show day via GAiN’s YouTube Channel.

  • An explanation of the inspiration and goals of working in audio for this project (min 300 characters)

  • Short overview of the soundscape made for the project

  • At least 3 individual Sound Effects/ Ambience sound files from the project

  • Video Recording of gameplay. Minimum 5 minutes, Maximum 10 minutes. The video must be at least medium visual quality and high-quality audio (unless it was made to be lo-fi)

  • Screenshots/screen-recordings of what makes the game unique and more innovative - That can be from the actual game engine/ middleware project, as well as any other documentation that shows the uniqueness of the project.

  • As for any music in the project, you must own or have permission from the copyright owner to play such music tracks on livestream and allow YouTube to play it on the Award Show day via GAiN’s YouTube Channel.

  • An explanation of the inspiration and goals of designing sound for this project (min 300 characters)

  • You can provide a build of the project, but for this category, the jury is not required to play it.

  • Short overview of the music soundtrack made for the game

  • At least 2 individual music tracks from the project (duration of tracks summed must be between 2 and 10 minutes)

  • Video Recording of gameplay. Minimum 5 minutes, Maximum 10 minutes. The video must be at least medium visual quality and high-quality audio (unless it was made to be lo-fi)

  • Screenshots/screen-recordings of what makes the game unique and more innovative - That can be from the actual game engine/ middleware project, as well as any other documentation that shows the uniqueness of the project.

  • As for any music in the project, you must own or have permission from the copyright owner to play such music tracks on livestream and allow YouTube to play it on the Award Show day via GAiN’s YouTube Channel.

  • An explanation of the inspiration and goals of scoring the music for this project (min 300 characters)

  • You can provide a build of the project, but for this category, the jury is not required to play it.

  • ​Short overview of the overall implementation of audio made for the game

  • A Build of the project for the jury to play

  • They will be asked to play a minimum of 10 minutes, so, make sure they can play the best part.

  • At least 2 screen-recordings of the technology of implementing the audio in-game and how the systems are set up. 

  • Optional: screenshots of the audio systems (C++, C#, Blueprint, FMOD, Wwise, etc) 

  • Screenshots/screen-recordings of what makes the game unique and more innovative - That can be from the actual game engine/ middleware project, as well as any other documentation that shows the uniqueness of the project.

  • As for any music in the project, you must own or have permission from the copyright owner to play such music tracks on livestream and allow YouTube to play it on the Award Show day via GAiN’s YouTube Channel.

  • An explanation of the inspiration and goals of the audio implementation for this project

​The GAiN Board and GACO Awards committee reserves the right to cancel or change the rules of this awards show at any time. Projects submitted without all of its requirements may be considered invalid for submission.

 

You are responsible for checking that you are submitting all necessary information. If you have any questions or issues with the submission, please email us at management@gainorway.com

Each category has different requirements of what must be submitted. Please follow them accordingly and make sure you submit all the necessary documentation about your project.

  • Project must have been released between January 1st and December 31st of 2021.

  • Submission period: July 18th to August 19th, 2022

  • Nominees to be announced on September 2nd, 2022

  • You must be a Sound Designer, Composer, Audio Programmer or any part of the Audio Department of a Game or Interactive Media project;

  • You must be:

    • a Norwegian Citizen;

    • OR a Norwegian Resident;

    • OR have worked on this project for a Norwegian Studio;

  • You must have worked in the industry professionally for at least 1 year;

  • Be over 18 years of age

  • All submissions:

    • must add the project name

    • must add a short description of the project

    • can add a Poster or image of the project (optional)
